Rich in culture and history, our area was developed some 10,000
years ago by Native Americans. From the first Spanish settlers,
to the French and the British, Pensacola and her surrounding areas
drew people to her coast. Many battles were fought over this popular
harbor and port. Pensacola has been a colony of France, Spain,
Britain and the Confederate States of America.
In 1868, Florida rejoined our union and since 1914 has been the
home of The Naval Air Station. Just down the beach from this "Cradle
of Naval Aviation," Perdido Key is in the flight path of the Navy
and Marine pilots who fly there. It is a beautiful place to visit
and even a better place to live!
