The Pensacola Beach Run is a ‘pick your distance’ run. Come out and give your all on a half-marathon, 10K or 5K course. Simply set out on your course and choose the turns for the distance that works for you. Both walkers and runners are encouraged to participate! If you’ve registered early, pick up your pack on Friday evening at The Grand Marlin and enjoy the runner’s expo. Pick up items to commemorate your experience or shop the cool running gear. If you can’t make it Friday, packet pickup is at 7:30AM at the Casino Beach start.

Your fun-filled day of fitness on the shores of Pensacola Beach isn’t over yet, however. Stay for the post-race party at The Sandshaker which will include food, fun, awards and even a mini-expo. See you on the course!

Our Perdido Key snowbirds can enjoy a proper welcome back to the beaches every Wednesday afternoon at the Flora-Bama Lounge during the Welcome Wednesday potluck at 1PM. Even if you’re just down on a short vacation to Perdido Key, stop by and see what this famous lounge is all about.

Welcome Wednesday will take place every Wednesday afternoon through February. Gather will old friends or come to make new ones as you dine on a delicious potluck from the gang at the Flora-Bama Lounge. We mean business when it comes to Mardi Gras along the Gulf Coast and this year we’re kicking it all off with one heck of a party in downtown Pensacola! The event will take place in historic Seville Quarter, located just a short drive from your Perdido Key vacation condo.

The 2012 Mardi Gras season in Pensacola is being sponsored by Wind Creek Casino and promises to be one of the biggest parties in Northwest Florida. This first Friday in January, the Quarter will close down early and the festivities will go on late into the night. Join us as we gather for king cake, mingle with the krewes and celebrate!

The event is free and opens at 6:30PM when you can begin mingling with the krewes and viewing their festive floats. At 7:30PM we’ll enjoy the blessing of the fleet, watch as each krewe presents their royalty and eat cake as the Mardi Gras season is officially declared open and the real party begins!

Take in a bit of history during your next vacation in Perdido Key and visit Fort Barrancas, located just a short drive from your Gulf Coast vacation condo. Located at Pensacola NAS, this monument has been a long part of our area’s history.

Fort Barrancas was established in 1787 and is a hilltop fort that overlooks the Pensacola Bay. The fort was the site of The Battle of Pensacola, during the War of 1812, and played a large role in the Civil War. Join us on January 7, 2012 from 5PM-7:15PM as costumed interpreters lead you through a candelit tour and present the history of the Civil War at different key stations throughout Fort Barrancas.

There is a steep walkway and narrow stairs that must be used during the tour. While the tour is lighted by candles, flashlights are welcome. Groups of 30 will leaves every 30 minutes and reservations are recommended. Please call 850.455.5167 for additional details and reservations.
