When fishing in Perdido Key, you have many choices. You can troll around in the calmer waters of the Santa Rosa Sound fed by freshwater streams or venture out into the deep waters of the Gulf. Pensacola offers the shortest trip to the ‘Nipple’ of the Gulf, which is where the continental shelf gets very deep and where sailfish love to reside. You can stay onshore and walk down the Pensacola Beach Pier and fish the shallow water fish, such as Pompano, RedFish, Sheepshead, and Cobia. You can even try your hand at fly fishing and many of the state parks offer boat launches and designated fishing areas as well.
